Cultivation systems

A facility performs to the level of its weakest subsystem.

Lighting, cooling, dehumidification, airflow and irrigation act as one system. In practice they are specified separately, and then one component quietly limits all the others.

The most common finding in existing facilities is a gap between installed lighting power and the ability of the equipment to remove the resulting moisture load. The cultivation plan assumes the light; the facility can only follow it up to the point where dehumidification runs out.

We work the interaction through against your actual cultivation plan and name the limiting factor before money is spent. In existing rooms a substantial part can often be recovered without major investment, through control strategy, airflow and scheduling alone.

Climate, airflow and CO2

Stability matters more than the ideal set point. A room that hits its target on average but swings widely through the day manages a crop worse than a conservatively set, stable room.
